Just as settlers in early America believed that expansionism was justified and inevitable; Silicon Valley views its advancement through a lens of optimistic destiny. Products are packaged to consumers with a perceived moral high ground. To not buy in, is to not share in the collective progress. In this scenario groupthink will always outweigh critical reflection; After all, who wouldn't want to change the world.
